Part Time Kitchen Assistant Job Description:
We are looking to hire a part time kitchen assistant to help prepare food for our salad bar and take home dinners. Chef-owner John Peelen is a trained and certified teaching chef. He taught both Culinary and Baking curriculums at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE)in New York City for more than ten years.

As Kitchen Assistant, while preparing food for our salad bar and take out meals, John will work with you to develop the following skills: 
Knife Skills
Roasting/Braising
Baking
How to read a recipe
How to use kitchen equipment, etc

In this role, everyday will be different, based on the production schedule.No kitchen experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and enjoy working with good food.

Schedule & Compensation:
Flexible Shifts - Great for a Gap yearFamily friendly morning hours
Pay Commensurate with experience

Requirements:
1-2 Year cooking experience and / or 1+ year culinary student
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. carton or bag
Ability to stay standing and active for duration of shift
Ability to bend, lift, twist, squat and reachAbility to read english

Retail Employee - Front End Coordinator, Job Description

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Meet and greet customers as they enter and leave the shop

  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills

  • Work in the front of shop operating cash register

  • Serve customers by connecting them to both our products and our mission

  • Make salads & sandwiches to order

  • Answer phone - take phone orders

  • Refill salad bar offerings, dressings, and packaging as needed

  • Maintain a clean organized work space

  • Collaborate with chef and coworkers on daily restocking and packaging projects

  • Wash dishes as needed throughout your shift

  • Work together with store management on following standard operating procedures, including opening/closing, store upkeep, and other projects as assigned 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. carton or bag

  • Ability to stay standing and active for duration of shift

  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, squat and reach

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Flexible days:
    Monday - Saturday 11:00 - 3:00
